Save Our Beaches Volunteer Groups

  • This group of daring individuals have definite opinions and want to make those opinions known — by speaking up at government meetings, and writing letters to the editor and opinion pieces. You don’t need to have experience with public advocacy — we will train you. This is a great way to make your voice heard! Click on the button below and be sure to say you want to join the “Beach Advocates Group.”

  • Surf Advocates is a specialized group who are primarily interested in advocating for protection and enhancement of surf resources. We need to ensure that our efforts to replenish sand do not impact surfing conditions. This is a fun group, if you’re interested, click on the button and be sure to say you want to join the “Surf Advocates Group.”

  • The more voices we have, the louder we will speak! We are looking for volunteers to help provide content and enthusiasm on our Facebook and Instagram accounts (and initiate other social media accounts), to share our posts to other pages, and connect us with influencers who can help grow our community. We want our social media to be a meaningful source of information, so click on the button below and be sure to say you want to join “The Socials”

  • We have initiated a series of pop-up educational and advocacy events — you may have seen our SOB-SC tent on the beach trail. These are excellent opportunities to connect, educate, and advocate for our beaches. We are looking for people to help staff our booth. No need for experience or prior knowledge, we will train you. Click on the button below and be sure to say you want to join the “Pop Up People.”

  • Establishing a robust Citizen Science component to our work is one of our longer-term goals. We need help monitoring beach conditions, including photographic documentation, beach width measurement, and more. Eventually this group will also help develop an educational outreach component to educate the next generation! If you’d like to do some field work with us, click on the button below and be sure to say you’d like to be a “Citizen Scientist.”
